| I thought id give you guys an update on the single throttle body plenum I have been working on. It has gone under a dozen revisions until I am finally at what I believe to be the best solution. (props to nixit for helping me with cad files!!) Before we get started lets go ahead and get this part out of the way... this design requires a hood bump. if you are familiar with the Jun Z's it will clear with a bump more like the red z(sleek slender dorsal fin)... not the gray one(rhinocerus hump). I want to focus my efforts on making it work properly without the constrainst of limiting plenum size just so it will fit under the hood. obviously it will clear the hood if the throttle body is pointed towards the rear(some of you may have remembered that version I posted loong ago) but becuase of the build I am making this plenum for (heygotboosts) i have decided the forward throttle body is the best way to go. this is not to say there wont be hood clearing variants later... this latest revision is a one piece plenum rather than a flange and bread box design on earlier conspect where you would have to disassemble the bread box to take the runner adapter off. It still bolts to the lower plenum, but it can now be removed in one step instead of two. hopefully the romoval of the stock plenum will reduce heatsoak as well.
the big thing here for you 'out of the box' guys that are getting into aem's and more sophisticated engine management is that this plenum allows top feed injectors to be used. This opens up a whole world of injector possibilities. It will still allow clearance for the stock ( and most likely border and 300degree) fuel rails to work. a q45 throttle body would probably be the norm, but the accufabs should do nicely too. the air idle will be remoted to the firewall and sent to the plenum via earls fitting. The single throttle body intake is now available on a custom order basis as well as top feed plenum conversion and top feed fuel rails. the intake with out throttle body will sell for $999.
there is also a 2 in 1 out fmic in the works. at this time theres no simple plug and play solution that will clear the hood but for those of you that are being limited by the stock plenum this is plenum is definately worth a look.
